• Rahile Dawut: scholar of Uyghur folklore and the geography of Uyghur sufi shrines.
• Sayithaji Qasim: a well-known urologist at the Kashgar No. 2 People’s Hospital. He was recently confirmed to have been sentenced to 25 years.
• Gheyretjan Osman: Professor of Uyghur language at Xinjiang University

Textbook writers

Several academics have been incarcerated because of the Crackdown on Uyghur textbooks for their content, for their role in writing those books. These include:
