China deems normal Muslim practices as extremism
Look at Learning and Identifying 75 Religious Extreme Activities in Parts of Xinjiang for example, it mentions
- You Cannot speak of Halal in Xinjiang beyond food
- Uyghurs canot pray at home
- Young and middle-aged people having beards = extremism
- Can’t advise others on religious matters. This is “interfering in others secular life”
- Teaching Turkish, Urdu, or Arabic “for the purpose of spreading extremist thought” = extremism
- Praying in congregation anywhere outside a mosque. Muslims can pray together anywhere.
- Can’t encourage children to pray, study religion or fast.
