CCP party members have to be atheist
There is ample evidence that CCP party members cannot believe in religion:
Jiang Yuanhao From the Communist Youth League of China said the following on Zhihu:^[ China Youth Daily (February 08, 2017]
“知乎惯例，先放结论：题主不具备加入中国共产党的条件，既不应入党，也不能入党。So，题主其实并不需要纠结。关于党员能不能信教的问题，在这里，给出明确答案：共产党员绝不能信仰宗教。”
“So, the question doesn’t really need to be tangled up. The question of whether party members can be religious is given a clear answer here: Communist Party members must not believe in religion.”

Communist Party members and cadres are Marxist materialists, and, therefore, should not be allowed to believe in and practice religion.

In 2001, Jiang Zemin further pointed out, “Party members and cadres should be educated to firmly believe in communism, correctly understand the Party’s religious policy, and understand that not believing in religion is the minimum condition for being a qualified Communist Party member. Communist Party members should not only not believe in religion, but should also actively promote atheism and the correct viewpoint of opposing feudal superstition.”

Why should Communist Party members absolutely not have religious beliefs? Communist Party members cannot believe in religion and cannot participate in religious activities. This is determined by the nature of the Party and the worldview of communists. Marx pointed out that ‘communism begins with atheism’. As a communist, one can be a thorough atheist by using the Marxist worldview to understand the world, transform the world, and explain social and natural phenomena.
